Each of our websites caters to a different reader profile and demographic. The audience for each site is built using our specialized and proprietary data driven marketing techniques.
Written Word Media has served over 35,000 authors many of whom are self-published, and works with 3 of the big 5 major publishers as well as a long list of smaller publishers and publicists on book promotions. Written Word Media has a combined audience of over 800,000 readers that receive email recommendations based on their genre and device preferences.
Chief Executive Officer
Ricci Wolman is founder and CEO of Written Word Media. Ricci has over 10 years of experience building online audiences using data-driven customer acquisition techniques. She holds an MBA from Harvard University.
Chief Operating Officer
Ferol Vernon holds an MBA from Duke University with a focus on technology and entrepreneurship. Ferol’s focus is building killer technology for readers, authors, and publishers. Ferol spent over 6 years in the music business at ReverbNation helping grow the company from a pre-revenue startup to a 100 person company doing over $20 million in annual revenue.
Chloe Kizer is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelors in Communication Studies who has been working at Written Word Media since June of 2013. In her role as Associate Director, she works to create and cultivate meaningful content with the goal of connecting authors with readers.
Written Word Media began as a single site. Freebooksy.com was born in February 2011 as a way for indie authors to capitalize on Amazon’s free KDP Select Days. Less than a year later, Bargain Booksy joined the family – a site dedicated to helping indies and publishers move discounted titles. In response to reader demand we added Red Feather Romance on Valentine’s Day this year, a genre-specific site focused exclusively on Romance titles. NewInBooks followed in May 2015 to serve those readers whose bookshelves (and Kindles) are filled with the newest titles and acclaimed bestsellers.
Our philosophy and mission have remained unchanged from the day we launched our first site – to provide authors and publishers an affordable, effective marketing product and to help readers of varying preferences and budgets to find their next great read.
