Dashboard to the Rescue: How to stay on top of your promo plans

A universal challenge for authors is keeping track of planned marketing activity across all your titles. Keeping track of your marketing plans for many books, across many different promotion sites, can certainly get overwhelming. Enter: The Written Word Media Dashboard! Your marketing organizational superhero.

Our Dashboard* is 100% free to use and makes it easy for authors and publishers to schedule, monitor, and organize your promotional activity. The Dashboard allows you to keep track of past and future promotions within the WWM family of promo sites.

Here are 6 ways the Dashboard can make your life easier:

  1. Check On Your Upcoming Promotions
  2. Request Changes to Your Promos
  3. Keep Track of All Your Promotional Activities in One Place
  4. Re-Run Past Promotions with the Click of a Button
  5. Easily Download Your Receipts
  6. Create a Centralized Book List to Alert You When a Book Needs Promotion

1. Check On Your Upcoming Promotions

We know you have a lot on your plate and it can be easy to get confused about which titles you have scheduled for promotion, or which promo sites you booked on. With the Dashboard, you can easily see all your upcoming promotions at a glance.

The Promotions tab will show you all upcoming promotions you have scheduled with Written Word Media promo sites. You will always know the status of your promotion with color-coded, easy to read status codes. No more digging through emails if you forget your promo date. You can also see what price you told us the book would be on your promo date, and which site it will be running on.

PRO TIP: The Dashboard is a 100% accurate reflection of what we have in our system. So, if you have questions on whether a payment was processed correctly, or if you submitted a change request, you can check the Dashboard to confirm that your feature is set to run.

You will also see all past promotions you have run with Written Word Media here. Past promotions have easy to read status codes as well.

2. Request Changes to Your Promos

Sometimes you may need to make an edit to an upcoming promotion. The easiest way to alert us to a change is to contact us within the Dashboard. To do this, go to the Promotions tab and click on Actions and Request Change. This will open a text box that will send your message directly to our customer service team.

3. Keep Track of All Your Promotional Activities in One Place

Each promotion has its own promotion details screen. This screen gives you all the information about a single promotion, including the book description and the price of the book on the day of the promotion. The Promotion Details screen provides another very powerful feature: Notes. The Notes section is where you can add any other marketing activity you have happening at the same time of your promotion, like running AMS ads or sending an email to your author mailing list.

It’s an easy way to glance at all the activity you have planned for that title. No more complicated systems of calendars and spreadsheets. Instead, you can keep all the info in the Notes section in your Dashboard.

4. Re-Run Past Promotions with the Click of a Button

Your Dashboard contains all the past promotions you have run on your titles. You can easily see which ones you will want to run again. Our system makes re-running a promotion incredibly simple.

Click the actions button next to the promotion and select Re-Run Promotion. That’s it! You will need to pick a new date, but you will not need to re-enter any of the book information.

5. Easily Download Your Receipts

Looking for your receipt from a recent purchase or tallying up your year end spend? Go to your Orders tab and click on an order to open the receipt.

6. Create a Centralized Book List to Alert You When a Book Needs Promotion

When you log in for the first time, the Books tab will pull in all the books you have ever promoted with us and any books for which you have upcoming promotions.  You can easily add all your titles to the Books tab by clicking the Add Books button. You can add ANY book you have on Amazon, even if you have never promoted the book with us before (we plan on adding the ability to add books from other retailers soon)! The Add Books button will connect to Amazon and allow you to choose which of your books to add to your Dashboard.

When you are ready to promote a title, you simply click on the Promote Book button next to your chosen title. By keeping all your books on your Dashboard you can easily book promos without having to fill out your book information every time.

You will get alerts on each book if it hasn’t been promoted for 90 days, so you never forget which books have had recent promotions and which haven’t. Authors can opt out of email alerts any time.

Dashboard FAQ

I don’t see all of my promotions in my Dashboard. Why are some of my promos missing?

The Written Word Media Account uses your email address as the primary identifier for your promotion. If you have used multiple email addresses to purchase with us, only the promotions associated with the email address you used to create your account will show up in your Dashboard.

For example:

Let’s say you booked 6 promotions with Written Word Media: 5 promotions under the email address janeausten@gmail.com and 1 promotion under the email address jane@yahoo.com. When you created your Written Word Media Account you used the janeausten@gmail.com email address. When you access the dashboard you will see the 5 promotions you booked with that email address. However, the one promotion booked under jane@yahoo.com will not show up.

If you have booked past promotions under a different email address than the one you created an account with, we can move your past promotions into your Written Word Media Account for you. To get help with this, email us here.

    • Hi There, the dashboard definitely works for authors with Pen names. Your author dashboard will allow any number of author names. It is linked to one unique email address so even if you have many pen names, as long as you use one email address to run promotions all the promotions will be saved in your account.
